Annual Board/Senior Staff Retreat and Strategic Planning Session, Vancouver Island Real Estate Board

Donald Golob has planned, facilitated, and written the summary report for five consecutive, two-day annual board retreats and strategic planning sessions for the Vancouver Island Real Estate Board.  In each case the purpose of the session has been to develop a 3-5 year long range plan and to develop a one-year operational plan and focus for the organization.

Development of Policies & Procedures for Research and Consulting Services, Social Planning and Research Council of British Columbia

Donald Golob was contracted by SPARC BC to help develop policies and procedures for the Research and Consulting Services component of the organization.  His responsibilities included organizing the project approach with the Executive Director,  organizing and facilitating scheduled half-day staff meetings to develop the principles related to policies and procedures, draft the meeting notes, working with the Executive Director to draft the policies and procedures, and writing up the policies and procedures as required.  Many of the issues are very complicated and a good deal of time was spent sorting out the issues and providing a common approach that can be translated into policies and procedures.

Development of Governance Structure, John Braithwaite Community Centre, City of North Vancouver

Donald Golob facilitated a series of sessions with representatives of the City of North Vancouver, the District of North Vancouver, the North Vancouver Recreation Commission, and the North Shore Neighbourhood House to develop a governance structure for the new John Braithwaite Community Centre.  The Centre is now open and the governance structure is in place.

Planning Session to Move School Nutrition Forward in British Columbia, BC Dairy Foundation & BC Ministry of Health

Donald Golob planned, facilitated, and wrote the summary report for a one-day planning session co-sponsored by the British Columbia Dairy Foundation and the British Columbia Ministry of Health to collaboratively discuss and determine how to improve school nutrition in the province.  Over 40 community nutritionists and other key experts (school trustees, parents, school administrators) came together to share ideas, build skills, and plan how to create health promoting schools in BC.

Planning Session, Community Care Facility Licensing Program (CCFL), Vancouver Coastal Health Authority (VCH)

Donald Golob designed, facilitated, and wrote the summary report for a one-day planning session for the CCFL licensing officers and senior staff.  The purpose of the session was to bring the CCFL Licensing Officers, Licensing Nutritionists, Supervisors, and Managers together from the Health Service Delivery Areas across VCH to:

      • Establish a “common place” from which the group could move  forward with developing a regional vision, mission, values, and set of guiding principles and best practices for the CCFL, and a regional set of policies and procedures
      • Foster a region-wide sense of “team” and “identity” in the CCFL
      • Lay the groundwork for continued VCH regional CCFL Licensing Officer meetings and networking.

Planning Session, Home Health & Diabetes, North Shore/Coast Garibaldi Community Health Services, Vancouver Coastal Health Authority

Donald Golob planned, facilitated, and wrote the summary report for a Comprehensive Case Management Model Review and Planning Session held with the North Shore Home Health Care Coordinators, Team Leaders, and Manager.

      • Explore its implications for Care Coordinators and Home Health Services
      • Plan for implementation of the model in the early fall 2003
